Frequently Asked Questions
Will these sessions be covered by my private health insurance benefits?
Most private health insurance companies that include counselling within their benefits will approve sessions conducted by a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) in good standing with the B.C. Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). Please contact your health insurance provider directly to ensure that this is the case. My RCC license # is 23590 and I can be found on the BCACC counsellor database.
In addition to provincial registration, I am federally registered with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) as a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). This allows me to provide services to people who are using federally-funded sources, described in further detail in the next section.
I don’t have private insurance; are there other ways to cover the cost of therapy?
There are so many wonderful programs available to help make counselling services accessible to those in need. I am an approved service provider for the following programs:
Crime Victims Assistance Program (CVAP)
Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC)
Canadian Armed Forces (CAF)
Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC)
Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)
Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP)
If you are unsure of your eligibility for these programs and would like to learn more, please feel free to contact me for a phone consultation and we can discuss your options.
Do you offer sliding scale?
I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots on my caseload each year. I am passionate about making quality therapy accessible to those in need, and will accommodate clients to the best of my ability. If you are a low-income individual who does not have private insurance and is not eligible for any of the funded programs mentioned above, please contact me to discuss options.
